Europe’s Médialab is the “Think-Do-Tank” for a healthy media sector, ‘Fondation reconnue d’utilité publique. MédiaLab (ex-Fondation Euractiv) has the same founder as the media Euractiv (sold to Mediahuis in 2023).

Manager/Director for TEPs Policy & Strategy
(TEPs: Trusted European Platforms. Independent contract)
Job description:
➢ Help MédiaLab and key partners grow Europe’s digital sovereignty in social media (complementing earlier efforts for sovereignty in BtB services like cloud, satellite, AI);
➢ Develop the TEPs criteria and pre-assess candidates for the TEPs label, notably technically;
➢ Develop the Club for TEPs, including providing services to members and sponsor packages;
➢ Supervise MédiaLab’s communication on TEPs, also leveraging Maison du MédiaLab;
➢ In time, take on increased management responsibilities.
Main tasks include:
➢ Detail strategy for TEPs, including long-term vision and multi-year planning;
➢ Co-construct with Bureau and key actors & experts, then implement:
○ TEPs criteria, including points like interoperability, portability, independence from US
○ label attribution, fact=based and independent, for Committee decisions;
➢ Promote membership and (public and private) sponsorship/donors/project funding for Club for TEPs, including focused networking, targeted research, consortium building and closing actual sales;
➢ Monitor regulatory and sector moves, leading to business research, strategy adjustments, advocacy.
In due course:
➢ address seminars, then conference on TEPs, with tech & media audiences
➢ Provide leadership to internal and consortium resources
➢ Collaborate closely with management and Bureau of Board,
➢ Developing customised proposals for potential donors and partners
➢ Keep track of ongoing projects with key stakeholders, including donors & clients
Profile:
➢ Experience in strategic leadership and tech assessment, at online media and/or tech companies;
➢ Fluent in English and good French, excellent written and verbal communication skills;
➢ Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, ability to synthesize in clear exhibits;
➢ Experience engaging with senior stakeholders, including regulators and corporate boards;
➢ Engagement in line with MédiaLab’s values and Europe’s ‘digital sovereignty’, open to background checks and limitations regarding conflicts of interest;
➢ Team leadership experience, preferably at tech start-up or NGO in a business environment;
➢ Entrepreneurial, open to working as independent contractor (long-term, nearly full-time activity, with scope for side activities);
➢ Several years of Brussels experience.
